BlackBerry fires CEO Thorsten Heins, scraps buyout plan

In a bit of a surprise move, BlackBerry announced this morning that it has given up on its effort to sell itself to a large investor, and that it will be replacing Thorsten Heins with former Sybase chief John Chen as interim CEO. From the official press release: “BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY; TSX: BB), a world leader in the mobile communications market, today announced that it has entered into an agreement pursuant to which Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (“Fairfax”) and other institutional investors (collectively, the “Purchasers”) will invest in BlackBerry through a U.S. $1 billion private placement of convertible debentures. Fairfax has agreed to acquire U.S.$250 million principal amount of the Debentures. The transaction is expected to be completed within the next two weeks…." ...

Apple's Intention Towards Innovation [Video]

When Steve Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011, everybody raised a question - how will Apple survive without him? Apple answered all those critics in a remarkable video Jobs’ mission statement towards innovation. Titled “Designed By Apple – Intention,” the video displays words set against simple design patterns and its definitely worth a watch! The simple words in the video (at the end of the post) appears to be a message to consumers of the company’s product quality and more of direct answer to media, tech industry and everyone. Start Button Is Back In Leaked Windows 8.1

Welcome back Start Button! Microsoft seems to be really listening to Windows 8 users. We now have a leaked screenshot of the latest Windows 8.1 preview leaked build. Paul Thurrott from WinSuperSite posted some screenshots showing the brand new Start button fashioned as a Windows 8 icon. AVG Possibly Hit By False Trojan Horse Agent4.AQLZ Alarm [Confirmed]

Few hours ago (late Sunday), I saw the following alert message from AVG antivirus on my Windows 8 computer related to Trojan horse: Agent4.AQLZ and shdocw.dll file. Upon further research on the Internet, I found that this problem is currently faced by thousands of AVG users about virus detection which possibly is a false Trojan Horse alarm by AVG. The antivirus program continues to pile up above virus detection messages whenever you browse windows explorer. After this alert, I attempted to create AVG rescue disk as suggested by help page and followed instructions accordingly. I completely scanned my computer from the rescue disk with no luck. ...
