Google today introduced a new feature Google +1 which allows to share recommendations with the world right in Google’s search results. It is yet another attempt to make search more social. This feature is slowly rolled out to Google.com, but you can try it by enabling the +1 search experiment.

Search Direct – Yahoo’s Version Of Google Instant

Ever wish you could have answers and direct access to websites before you complete a query, hit the search button, or go to a search results page? Yes, we do have Google Instant search already! Yesterday, Yahoo CTO Blake introduced Yahoo’s version of Google Instant, “Search Direct” at a press event. The simple way to describe it is as Yahoo’s version of Google’s Instant Search but with richer content. Blake reminds the audience that Yahoo developed a version of Instant Search years before Google (though Google Instant isn’t named)....

Google Removed 21 Malware Apps. Remotely Removing from Affected Android Devices

Last week, the Android team was made aware of a number of malicious applications published to Android Market. Within minutes of becoming aware, they removed the malicious applications. According to the company, the apps are malware aimed at getting root access to the user’s device, gathering a wide range of available data, and downloading more code to it without the user’s knowledge. The following 21 malware apps have already been downloaded by at least 50, 000 Android users....

Android Market Coming to Google TV

Google TV hasn’t been that popular so far despite the fact that the platform has some interesting features. One of the things that I think could save the Google TV platform would be access to apps from the Android Market on the Google TV platform. A new version of the Android Market for the Google TV platform is now officially noted to be coming soon and that announcement came directly from Ashish Arora, GM of Google TV products at Logitech yesterday....

Have You Lost Your Emails from Gmail?

Imagine the sinking feeling of logging in to your Gmail account and finding it empty. That’s what happened to 0.02% of Gmail users two days back. The good news is that email was never lost and Gmail team have restored for many of those affected. About 40000 accounts were wiped clean, leaving inboxes empty. It turned out due to a software update that introduced the unexpected bug. If you were affected by this issue, it’s important to note that email sent to you between 6:00 PM PST on February 27 and 2:00 PM PST on February 28 was likely not delivered to your mailbox, and the senders would have received a notification that their messages weren’t delivered....

Android Gingerbread ROM Leaks for Samsung Galaxy S

Samsung Galaxy S owners who frequently visit the Galaxy S sub-forum on XDA developers forum know that firmware leaks are a pretty common thing. Up until now, we have only had firmware leaks based on Android 2.2 or 2.2.1. Today, an Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread based firmware for the Galaxy S has leaked on the Internet. Samsung proprietary TouchWIZ UI (v3.0) also runs on top of it. The new firmware (XWJV1) is not an official one and is an early beta firmware....

Samsung Confirmed Gingerbread Update for Galaxy S in March

Samsung Germany has confirmed that Galaxy S will get an Android 2.3 Gingerbread update in March 2011. The news came out at the Samsung blogger event in Frankfurt and confirming Frank Feil tweet. However, this update could only be available to European Galaxy S devices initially. US and India carrier specific variants will probably have to wait a long time. In India, Samsung has phased out this super successful I9000 Galaxy S device and launched an updated version Galaxy SL I9003....

Facebook Phones: HTC announces Chacha and Salsa

Mark Zuckerberg said it before: there will be no Facebook phone. And now its clear what he meant – his strategy is to integrate Facebook into every phone telling us today at the HTC launch event in Barcelona.
