AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) says it is cutting down around 1400 workers from its 12000 employees.
AMD is an American multinational semiconductor company that develops computer processors and related technologies. Other main products apart from microprocessors include motherboard chipsets, graphic, embedded processors for servers, workstations, etc.
According to Yahoo, the main reason behind this move is because of weak computer market and manufacturing delays of PCs. This layoffs and other actions are expected to save $200 million in savings in 2012.
