500 New Features in Windows Phone 7 Mango

Microsoft yesterday provided the first look of the next release of Windows Phone code named “Mango” bringing 500 new features.

This update will be available to all WP7 devices starting from Fall and the Redmond based firm also announced that new devices from Acer, Fujitsu, ZTE and Nokia (?) will come preloaded with Mango later this year.

Some of the major features announced at the event include –

Messaging threads, which integrate text, Facebook chat, and Windows Live Messenger within the same conversation
The ability to group contacts into live tiles to easily see status updates and send messages
Contact cards now feature integrated Twitter and LinkedIn feeds
A linked inbox to combine all of your email accounts at once
Improved live tiles that provide real-time info and can be more dynamic than before
Multitasking support that will help improve battery life and performance
Internet Explorer 9, which includes HTML5 support and hardware acceleration
Local Scout, which provides "hyperlocal search results" and can recommend restaurants, shopping, etc.
Bing on Windows Phone, including Bing Vision, Bing Music Search, and Bing Voice
Quick Cards, which will provide relevant info (included related apps) about a product, movie, event, or place
